Ceramic, glass, crystal and porcelain, from Supreme's seasonal ritual to the Hermès cendrier, organized by brand, by season.
Supreme
EST. 1994 · LAFAYETTE ST, NYC
Nobody has treated the ashtray as a seasonal ritual like Supreme. Since the late 2000s, nearly every season's accessory list has included some smoking-adjacent object (a ceramic tray, a Zippo, a lighter holder), turning a $30–50 retail item into an instant collectible. The logic is pure Supreme: take a mundane corner-store object, stamp the box logo on it, and let scarcity do the rest. The early ceramics (2008–2014) are now legitimate auction material; Sotheby's has sold multi-piece Supreme ashtray lots.
Ashtrays: the ceramic timeline
2008
Glass AshtrayEarly logo glass tray; also ran in red in 2013. The start of the lineage.
2009
Ceramic Ashtray (black & red)First ceramic versions; both colorways surfaced in the Sotheby's Supreme accessories sale. (Marketplace listings sometimes say SS08, but that's a mixup with 2008's glass and plastic ashtrays.)
SS12
Hermès-style ceramic ashtray (white/red)White/red glazed ceramic (7" × 8⅝") with red suede base, riffing on the Hermès cendrier. One of the odder, rarer pieces. It circulates under two names: dealer listings calling it the "Classic Red Ceramic Ashtray" are this same piece; the only plain red ceramic Supreme made is the 2009 one above.
FW12
Last Supper Ceramic AshtrayRenaissance print inside the dish, same season as the Three Six Mafia tee.
FW13
Diamond Cut Crystal AshtrayHeavy cut-crystal cigar-style tray; the most "grandfather's study" of the run.
FW14
Ceramic Ashtray (white/red)
FW15
Ceramic Ashtray (white)Debossed logo dish, $38 retail; a clean, minimal one that suits a Margiela-leaning shelf.
Gold Trim Ceramic Ashtray (white)5.5" glossy white ceramic with gilded rim, $34 retail, Week 0 drop. Probably the definitive Supreme ashtray, and the best looking one.
FW17
AKIRA Syringe Ceramic TrayFrom the AKIRA collab; technically a tray, universally used as an ashtray.
SS18
Chicken Dinner Plate AshtrayDiner-plate graphic ashtray in white ceramic.
SS20
Debossed Glass Ashtray (red & clear)$30, Week 10 (April 30, 2020), two colorways, one season, never re-released. The tradition continues though; check season lookbooks on Supreme Community for the current one.
Market read: gold trim FW17 is the liquid, findable entry ($60–200 on StockX/eBay). Pre-2014 ceramics and the crystal ashtray are genuinely scarce: expect $250+, and check Sotheby's / Justin Reed / Japanese resale for condition-graded examples. The Zippos live on the lighters page.
Palace
EST. 2009 · LONDON
Lev Tanju and Gareth Skewis's skate label answered the Supreme ceramic with something more sculptural: the Tri-Ferg ashtray, a triangular tray molded after the Fergus "Fergadelic" Purcell logo, with cigarette divots at each flat point. It's become a recurring franchise (same shape, new material or finish every year or two), maybe the most collectible ashtray line in streetwear.
SS19
Tri-Ferg Ashtray (polished silver metal)Mirror-finish metal; the original.
SS20
Tri-Ferg Ceramic Ashtray (white/gold)Palace's own product copy: "If I decided to stop smoking I would still buy this for my change and loose bits and bobs."
SS21
Tri-Ferg Ashtray (black/gold & gold/black)Metal versions in two-tone finishes; black/gold trades around $300+.
FW21
Tri-Ferg Glass Ashtray (clear)Heavy molded glass take on the triangle.
SS26
Dragon Tri-Ferg Ashtray (white, Hong Kong exclusive)Region exclusive from the current season, proof the franchise is still going.
Travis Scott / Cactus Jack
HOUSTON, TX
Merch-drop culture's biggest operator has made the ashtray a recurring album-cycle item, usually tied to an era rather than a fashion season.
FW18
Astroworld "Wish You Were Here" Ashtray (red)From the Astroworld tour-merch waves.
2019
JACKBOYS × BMW Ceramic AshtrayFrom the JACKBOYS drop built around the M3-era race graphics.
FW23
Cactus Jack × Audemars Piguet Ashtray (brown)From the CJ×AP capsule (Dec 5, 2023, $250 retail, dropped alongside the Royal Oak "Cactus Jack"); resale sits around $400–500. The most "luxury crossover" ashtray streetwear has produced.
Stüssy · HUF
CALIFORNIA
Stüssy (est. 1980, Laguna Beach)
The godfather brand keeps its smoking accessories casual: logo Bic-style lighters have floated through drops for decades, and the recent Poker Chip Ashtray (black, casino-chip ridging with the double-S) is the current collectible. Older glass logo ashtrays turn up on Grailed and Mercari if you dig.
POKER CHIP ASHTRAY, BLACK
HUF (est. 2002, San Francisco)
Keith Hufnagel's label is the volume king of the category: nearly every season ships logo lighters, ceramic and glass ashtrays, trays and 420-leaning accessories at skate-shop prices ($10–40). Not scarce, but the cheapest way into the genre, and the plant graphics are a signature.

The Japan Heavyweights
TOKYO · URAHARA LINEAGE
Japanese streetwear treats smoking objects less like merch and more like actual ceramics: kiln-fired, made-in-Japan pieces. This is also where the incense chamber became its own category; those have their own page.
Wacko Maria (est. 2005)
Atsuhiko Mori's "guilty parties" label is the most committed smoker's brand in fashion. The leopard trays are the recurring ashtray; the Maria and Panther chambers are on the incense page.
FW20
Leopard Ashtray Type-2 (grey and other colorways)Heavy ceramic leopard-print trays, reissued season after season. Style codes track Type-1/Type-2 in white & black (FW19), grey & brown (FW20, the grey Type-2 pictured), and white/gold (FW21), with later Type-4 and Guilty Parties trays at Feature, HBX and Bodega.
Neighborhood (est. 1994)
Shinsuke Takizawa's motorcycle-club label has produced ceramic ashtrays for years alongside its skull and Booze incense chambers; the BAPE × Neighborhood shark chamber's base doubles as a standalone ashtray. See the incense page for the pieces.
BAPE & Human Made
BAPE (Nigo, 1993) has scattered camo and ape-head ashtrays across its history in addition to the NBHD shark collab. Human Made, Nigo's current "dry goods" label, keeps its vintage-Americana homeware to glassware, containers and diner objects. Despite persistent rumor, no actual Human Made ashtray could be verified in any catalog or resale record, so treat anything so branded as suspect.

Chrome Hearts
EST. 1988 · HOLLYWOOD
At the top of the Chrome Hearts smoking line sit current-production Baccarat crystal ashtrays, sold through Chrome Hearts' own Baccarat collaboration and priced on request. The sterling lighter cases are on the lighters page, the leather cigarette cases on the cases page.
BACCARAT CRYSTAL ASHTRAY
Vintage Luxury
GUCCI · HERMÈS
Before streetwear discovered the ashtray, the luxury houses spent the 1950s–80s perfecting it. This is probably the best value in the whole category: real porcelain, real silver, often cheaper than a Supreme resale piece.
Gucci
Aldo Gucci-era Italy produced a huge run of porcelain ashtrays (duck motifs, florals, nautical porthole and chain-link designs, wind-rose patterns), many made with Richard Ginori, plus suede-based lusterware trays (c. 1975), 1980s belt-buckle table lighters, and heavy 1990s crystal cigar ashtrays. $150–600 on 1stDibs and LiveAuctioneers depending on motif and condition.
The Hermès cendrier is the blue-chip: Limoges porcelain change tray/ashtray hybrids, hand-finished in France with equestrian and animal motifs, plus mid-century metal pieces like the 1960s silver cube lighter with the sculptural "H". Still in production today; vintage examples start at a few hundred dollars.
